It takes an extraordinary person with a passion to serve others to be named CAREGiver of the Year. Blandina Mwanyopa of Kilmainham was selected from a pool of more than 4,500 professional CAREGivers in Ireland to receive the National CAREGiver of the Year Award. Referred to by clients as “the perfect CAREGiver”, she was selected for her compassionate service and exceptional commitment to enhancing the lives of older people and their families.

Blandina has been working with Home Instead Senior Care Ballsbridge for the last year and provides older people with companionship and home care services (personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands and shopping) to help them remain independent at home. CAREGivers also have the opportunity to participate in a specialised training programme accredited by City & Guilds to meet the unique care needs of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other Dementias.

Ireland’s leading senior care information website, SeniorCare.ie, reviewed the submissions for CAREGiver of the Year and selected the regional finalists and national winner.
