Welcome to the SeniorCare Forum - Getting started

March 09, 2010

Welcome from Sheila and Conor

We are very happy to bring you the SeniorCare Forum and we hope it will be a rich source of information and support for many aspects of senior care in Ireland. We hope you will help us to create a vibrant community of compassionate and caring individuals.

You may have come to this forum thinking:
- "I need to be computer literate to participate."
- "I am nervous about sharing personal information."
- "Can you really connect emotionally with other people online?"

We are happy to tell you that you do not need to be a computer whiz to participate; you can be as anonymous as you desire and you can interact and get close with other people.

Our Forum will give you a place to connect with others, get answers, feel understood and show you that you are not alone. It is not a substitute for in-person contact with others through support groups and outreach activities. We believe a healthy approach is to combine online and offline support services.
Getting Started

As members of an online community, we all agree to abide by some basic standards of conduct. These rules are established to ensure that the support that we provide is not interrupted by intrusions from marketers and charlatans. We also abide by these rules because it is easy to misinterpret what people are saying when you can’t see their body language. By following these rules, we can all be assured of a safe and pleasant visit.

Please read our complete Standards of Conduct

<The first step in joining our Forum is to register as a member. While this is not required, it does enable you to get the most out of the software>

Your First Post
Where should you place your first post? If you see a discussion thread or topic that is related to the item you want to add, just post it as a reply to the existing thread. Many people stay on top of specific threads and follow them over time. You may start a new topic if you like. We just ask that you try to post in the closest area to your topic.

Don't worry if you post to "the wrong" area or it doesn't look perfect. Nobody is going to judge you on your spelling, typos or imperfect paragraphs. Sometimes we are typing and it is more like a stream of consciousness than an essay. Sometimes the Moderators will move a post into a more appropriate forum. Rarely posts will be deleted (in the interest of space) or transferred into the archives. It is not a reflection on your post if this is done. We make every effort to preserve your comments and feedback. If an advertisement is posted to the Forum, one of us will delete it almost immediately.

In closing, we would like to welcome all of you and we hope you find the Forum easy to navigate, post on and find the information and people you are looking for. Please send any feedback to info@seniorcare.ie.

Kind Regards,
Sheila and Conor - SeniorCare Partners
